Scales for Hazardous, Explosive and Flammable Environments
Industries that work with hazardous materials require scales that are safeguarded against the damaging effects of these substances. Whether you’re weighing hazardous materials for recording purposes, need to keep track of how much chlorine gas is left in a tank, or need accurate measurements while working with potentially dangerous chemicals or environments, you need a durable scale you can trust. Arlyn Scales has decades of experience and knowledge behind us, and we have created a great selection of scales that are safe to use with hazardous materials.
Intrinsically Safe Scales
Our intrinsically safe scales are appropriate for use in many industrial environments that have flammable or explosive fumes and liquids and high concentrations of dust. Our Intrinsically Safe Bench Scales are perfect for distillery labs and workshops. These explosion proof scales are easy to use with a large LCD digital display on a stainless steel swivel mount. The load cells on these scales are made from heat-treated stainless steel alloy, so they are very rugged, and the platform can handle large loads.
Arlyn Scales is also the manufacturer of the industry’s first and only Intrinsically Safe Chlorine Ton Scale. Chlorine is an extremely dangerous gas to work with, and its levels need to be monitored closely to prevent accidents and health and safety hazards. The ArlynGuard T is a reliable chlorine ton scale constructed from stainless steel to reduce corrosion and provide a longer life. This scale applies weight to four intrinsically safe, heat treated, and abuse resistant load cells for accuracy that is up to five times better than standard ton scales.
Intrinsically Safe Ultra Precision Scales
We recently introduced the new ArlynGuard S line of approved Intrinsically Safe Ultra Precision Scales using Surface Acoustic Wave (or SAW) Technology. These scales offer 10 times the accuracy of a regular strain gauge, bringing you better precision at a more affordable price. With a resolution of 1:100,000, ArlynGuard S scales are perfect for applications involving explosive, flammable, and other hazardous conditions. While these scales include a rechargeable battery supply, they can also be configured for AC Powered Systems with a Safety Barrier. For more details, please call us at (800) 645-4301.
Corrosion Resistant Scales
If you work with corrosive materials, then you need a corrosion resistant scale. Corrosion Resistant Scales from Arlyn Scales feature 3-part polyamine epoxy-coated stainless steel for exceptional durability and resistance to corrosive materials. This chemical scale is a must-have for industries working with ammonia, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, chlorine, hydrogen, brine, etc. Spills and fumes can destroy a regular scale, but you will get years of quality service out of our Corrosion Resistant Scales. These scales range in capacity from 500 lbs to 10,000 lbs, so you’re sure to find one that fits your business’s needs.
The ArlynGuard line of scales are Intrinsically Safe for use in an impressive range of hazardous area classes, divisions, and groups. The industrial strength ArlynGuard Ultra Precision Scales (SAW), Bench, Cylinder, Platform, and Floor Scales feature heat-treated stainless steel load cells and internal resolutions of 1 part in 500,000.

Arlyn Scales provides scales for all types of clients, including those that work with hazardous materials. For use in volatile areas, Arlyn Scales offers the very best in intrinsically safe and explosion-proof equipment. What’s So Special About “Intrinsically Safe”? Many industrial facilities use scales because they need to weigh materials and prepare items for shipping. … Continued
Accurate weighing is essential in the industrial world. Platform scales are used to weigh different size packages, or to check that the weight of a package is within the specified tolerance. Bench scales are used to mix ingredients to the correct ratios. Drum scales can monitor the weight of a liquid chemical being used in … Continued
Hazardous environment scales can range from those that are used to weigh caustic chemicals, to those that must be used in explosive environments. You must be sure that you are using the right scale for your application. There are different classes of hazardous materials: solids liquids and gasses; however they can all harm people, other … Continued
The industrial process of weighing is truly found industry wide. It is used in shipping and receiving. It is used for chemical formulation and drum filling. It is used for mixing, batching and dispensing. Parts counting is often done by weight, when identical items are being counted. For every industrial application in which industrial scales … Continued
Our world requires fast paced technology that is capable of producing high speed manufacturing operations. Often times, the price that is paid for speed and high performance is the occasional accident caused by something as simple as a spark. With so much electrical energy available through the different devices, caution must be taken to insure … Continued
Scales for Hazardous, Explosive and Flammable Environments Application Notes
Industrial environments for paint mixing can be dangerous if improperly managed. There are strict standards because many of the thinners, toners, binders, and other chemicals used to produce paint can be toxic, flammable or explosive. Not only that, spray cans are placed under tremendous pressure during production, and the contents of these are often flammable. … Continued
Companies that are involved in weighing hazardous waste and materials have to take special care to safeguard against the damaging effects of these potentially dangerous substances. Industrial scales that are used to routinely weigh such substances should be made of stainless steel. This is the case no matter what kind of container the substance is … Continued
When you are working with hazardous and flammable substances it is important to always keep safety in mind. Furthermore, it’s important to consider explosion-proof only machinery, when purchasing equipment to use with such substances. What Does Explosion-Proof Mean? Explosion-proof means that a machine or device safely contains sparks and prevents explosions if sparks are created. … Continued
It takes the utmost of caution to design and manufacture the ultimate weighing precision scales for hazardous areas. There must be superior elements in place in order to insure complete safety. Equipment that relies heavily on large electric currents have no place in this arena. It is with careful consideration that our engineers have been able … Continued
There are many applications that include hazardous materials that are capable of igniting for a variety of reasons. The safety factor requires that the surroundings, be it a chemical formulation room or the weighing scale in use, be explosion proof. As a non-contributing agent in a combustible scenario, Arlyn Guard F Floor Scales are a … Continued
