Our scales are engineered for applications such as chemical vapor deposition, etching, oxidation, doping, and inerting, where weight-based monitoring ensures consistent feed rates and uninterrupted gas supply. By weighing each cylinder, dewar, or tank directly, operators can track remaining contents with precision and prevent unexpected process downtime.

All Arlyn Scales products are built in our Long Island, New York facility using precision machined load cells and advanced Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology. Why Weight-Based Gas Monitoring Is Essential in Semiconductor Production

Pressure monitoring alone can be misleading: liquefied gases maintain constant pressure until the last of the liquid evaporates. Arlyn Scales manufacture a complete line of cylinder, platform, and ton scales specifically suited for semiconductor chemical management:

  • Cylinder Scales monitor feed rate and inventory for smaller gas cylinders.
  • Ton Scales accommodate large containers holding liquefied chlorine or halocarbons, with capacities up to 3,000 lb.
  • Platform Scales support pails, drums, or chemical containers used in secondary or cleanroom applications.

Each model compensates for the cylinder tare weight, providing a direct reading of material remaining. Scales can output real-time data to your gas monitoring or MES systems to trigger alerts, schedule cylinder changeouts, and maintain continuous process operation.

Engineered for Corrosive and High-Interference Environments

Semiconductor fabrication facilities expose equipment to corrosive gases, high humidity, and strong electromagnetic interference from nearby process tools. Arlyn Scales are purpose-built to perform accurately under these conditions.

All structural components, load cells, and housings are fabricated from stainless steel to resist chlorine, fluorine, bromine, and halocarbon compounds used in etching and cleaning. Each weld is continuous and sealed to prevent corrosion, even after years of exposure to reactive vapors or chemical residues.

Intrinsically Safe and Corrosion-Resistant Construction

  • ArlynGuard C Cylinder Scales provide intrinsic safety for smaller pressurized gas cylinders used in fabs.
  • ArlynGuard T Ton Scales handle large chlorine or dopant-gas containers exceeding 3,000 lb capacity.
  • Platform and Ultra Precision Scales serve for secondary containers, pails, or cleanroom chemical storage.

Every unit is factory-calibrated and designed to provide stable readings even when installed on vibration-prone floors or inside gas cabinets. Stainless-steel load sensors maintain calibration longer than aluminum alternatives and tolerate mechanical shock from heavy cylinders.

Shielded Against EMI and RFI Disturbance

Electronic interference is common in fabs due to RF plasma tools, vacuum pumps, and communication networks. Arlyn Scales mitigate this with multi-layer stainless-steel shielding and signal filtering throughout the measurement system:

  • Load-cell signals run through stainless-steel tubing that acts as an EMI barrier.
  • Continuous welded seams seal the tubes to block external noise.
  • Load cells are grounded with braided copper straps and wrapped around ferrite cores to suppress interference.
  • Access plates use graphite-impregnated gaskets to maintain full electrical continuity with the frame.

These design details protect millivolt-level sensor signals from distortion, ensuring repeatable readings in high-interference areas where conventional scales fail.

Process Integration and Data Output

Arlyn Scales provide direct communication to process and safety systems through multiple output protocols, including 4-20 mA current loop, Ethernet, RS-485, or USB. Modbus, Profinet and Ethernet IP are available. Real-time weight data can be used to trigger alarms, close valves, or log cylinder consumption within fab control software—allowing automatic, continuous oversight of gas and chemical supply.

Arlyn Scales systems are designed to integrate directly into semiconductor gas monitoring and automation frameworks. Weight data can be transmitted through 4–20 mA current loops, Ethernet, RS-485, or USB for connection to existing process control, alarm, or data-logging systems.
