Weighing Equipment Engineers and Manufacturers: How Arlyn Scales Does It

images-2As a leader of design and innovation in the scale industry for the past 35 years, we have a special way of doing things here at Arlyn Scales. Unlike most suppliers of weighing equipment, weÕre a factory direct company that engineers and manufactures all of our products, their subassemblies, and accompanying computer software and microprocessor instrumentation right here in our Long Island factory. This means weÕre able to bring our customers the latest technology, superior quality, and the utmost value with every purchase. We gladly invite OEM interest and always make our expert design and production services available. From sensitive laboratory balances to high capacity industrial scales, our sales staff is always on hand to expertly match your needs with the appropriate Arlyn Scales product. If your weighing requirements cannot be met with a standard product model, weÕre ready, willing, and able to provide custom solutions. But what makes Arlyn Scales superior to other scale providers?

It All Starts With a Good Design

Our engineers take the time to consider you Ð the end user. Our goal is always ease of use, high precision, durable materials, and a long service life. Our attention and innovative approach to these details are what separate Arlyn Scales from other providers.

Ease of Use

Ease of use begins with an intuitive, graphic interface on the digital indicator, whose principal task is to display accurate weight values. Our full function keypad enables alphanumeric data input while the clear menu interface means all choices are prompted from the graphical display. The display is large enough to be seen from a distance and stainless steel swivel brackets make it easy to read results from any angle. A variety of industry standard communication options allow data to be sent to and received from other computerized instruments. These include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, Cloud, and RS-232. With a large internal memory, more than 100 values can be stored for tare weights, piece counts, and other parameters.

High Precision

Whether you choose a strain gage industrial scale or an ultra precision SAW scale, our load cells provide the most accurate results available in the industry. Our strain gage load cells are precisely machined using computer controlled devices and stainless steel. While other companies cut corners and use less expensive materials such as aluminum, our decision to use stainless steel provides unparalleled accuracy and durability, which means these scales are able to perform accurately in even the most abusive industrial environments. Our line of ultra precision scales has revolutionized the weighing industry for businesses that rely on extremely fine measurements, where even .0001 pound of material can affect the final outcome of a product. While providing precision equivalent to (or better than) magnetic force restoration scales, our ultra precision scales are able to operate at higher capacities Ð as a high as 500 pounds or more, compared to the 15 pound limit of MFR scales Ð theyÕre much closer in cost to strain gage scales. Our factory direct pricing allows us to provide better equipment at extremely competitive costs. Eliminating markups from middlemen mean that weÕre able to invest resources into developing our products, meeting new technological demands, and ultimately in providing our customers with a truly superior product.

Durable Materials

Instead of using the industry standard sheet metal, we take the time to carefully weld our scales to ensure that theyÕre strong and able to stand up to your daily needs. From corrosion resistant stainless steel to lightweight, portable aluminum scales, we always work with you to understand your work environment and the purpose for which our scales will be used. This allows us to advise you which construction will best suit your needs. Our corrosion resistant scales feature full stainless steel construction and an optional garnet-infused triple epoxy that protects the platform from abrasion and corrosion. Our digital indicator can be purchased with a stainless steel enclosure to increase its water resistant properties, which include an injection molded enclosure and rubber gasket that helps seal out moisture.

Longevity

Every decision we make in the design, engineering, and manufacture of our products ensures that youÕll get years of useful life out of your scale. We always encourage our customers to contact us regarding a purchase so that we can make sure you are choosing a scale that will really stand the test of time in the environment where you need it.

Customization

Because weÕre a factory direct manufacturer, we also have the opportunity to provide our customers with custom solutions. Sometimes standard platform sizes, capacities, or set ups just wonÕt fit into an existing production line or on a uniquely designed work floor. Often, our customers will need to use our scales to semi- or fully automate their production, which we can help them do with special options such as our set point controller. WeÕve worked with countless companies to complete the weighing portions of their batching, packaging, mixing, and monitoring equipment.

Special Considerations: Classified Hazardous Locations

If you work in a classified hazardous location, you know how important that the equipment you use is Intrinsically Safe. Our ArlynGuard B, C, F, and P scales have one or more components that have been tested and approved to be Intrinsically Safe for use in an impressive range of hazardous locations including:

•    Intrinsically safe for use in Class I, II, III; Division I; Groups A through G
•    Non-incedive for use in Class I; Division II; Groups A through D
•    Suitable for use in Class II; Division II; Groups F & G
•    Suitable for use in Class III; Division II

Each ArlynGuard scale is equipped with one or more of:

•    Model MKE-5-IS(-C) Digital Weight Indicator System
•    Load Cell Models 620-300-IS, 620-100-IS, 620-50-IS, 620-25-IS, 620-10-IS, 520-10000L-IS, 520-5000L-IS, 520-5000IS, 520-2500-IS, 520-1250-IS, 320-500-IS and 320-250-IS

which are FM Approved components as per Approval Standard 3600, 3610, 3611 and 3810.

When it comes to the design and manufacture of these scales, safety and precision are always our top priorities.
