Arlyn PR-A90

Turn every weight into a ready-to-use label.

The Arlyn PR-A90 is a 4-inch direct thermal barcode label printer offered with compatible Arlyn scales equipped with the UpScale touchscreen indicator. It converts scale data into wider labels for products, batches, inventory, pallets and traceability workflows.

Choose an approved USB or Bluetooth configuration, then add the UpScale Barcode & QR Print Function when the workflow requires machine-readable codes. Arlyn’s larger advantage is the custom-label workflow around the printer: design the layout, make it available as a selectable print frame during setup, then weigh and press PRINT at the weighing station. The PR-A90 is configured with a compatible scale; it is not presented as a standalone printer or retrofit product.

From measurement to identification in three steps

The PR-A90 extends the weighing station beyond a number on a screen, creating a physical record that can travel with the item, batch or shipment.

01 · Weigh

Capture the result

The compatible Arlyn scale and UpScale indicator capture the weight and the operator-selected context.

02 · Identify

Print the label

Create a human-readable record and, with the appropriate print function, a barcode or QR code for the next system.

03 · Move

Carry data forward

Apply the label to the product, container, sample or pallet so identification stays with the physical item.

The Arlyn label-customization advantage

Custom labels for your weighing process.

The Arlyn Label Designer Suite provides the tools to create labels that reflect the information required by your operation.

Build a label around the information your process needs, prepare it as a selectable print frame during background setup, and keep the weighing-station experience simple.

Once the label and print frame are configured, operators continue to work from the standard UpScale weight screen. They simply weigh the item and press PRINT to produce the selected label.

Create the label, select its print frame during setup, then weigh and press PRINT.
What this changes: customers can build application-specific templates around approved scale data instead of assembling a separate label workflow around a generic printer.

Where it fits

One printer, three common industrial workflows

Wide labels give teams room to combine the measured result with the operational details people and systems need next.

More room for useful information

Choose a label format that matches the job

The PR-A90 accepts media from 20 to 118 mm wide and provides up to 108 mm of print width. That range supports compact identification labels as well as wider product, case and pallet formats.

Use the extra space for weight, unit, gross/tare/net values, item or lot information, operator details and customer-defined fields. Barcode and QR output requires the compatible UpScale print function and a validated label layout.

Media control

Find the next label accurately

Gap and black-mark detection let the PR-A90 work with common die-cut and marked media. Correct calibration helps establish the first print position and maintain alignment across a run.

The practical result is simpler setup, fewer misaligned starts and less media consumed while dialing in a new roll or label stock.

Designed for repeated use

A printhead rated for up to 50 km

The published printhead-life rating is up to 50 km of printed media, supporting sustained label production when the printer is correctly maintained and paired with suitable direct thermal stock.

Printhead life is not a fixed label count. Media abrasiveness, adhesive buildup, heat settings, cleaning practices and duty cycle all affect real-world service life.

Daily operation

A clear path for loading and routine care

The clamshell housing opens to expose the roll holder, guides, sensing area, platen roller and printhead. That access simplifies roll changes, media alignment and routine cleaning.

For repeatable output, operators should use qualified media, keep the sensing and print areas clean, and follow the approved loading sequence for the final production configuration.

Supported Arlyn choices

Choose USB or Bluetooth with UpScale

The Arlyn PR-A90 is planned in separate USB and Bluetooth configurations for supported UpScale installations. Select the connection during scale configuration so the printer, indicator and print function are specified together.

Connection guidance
USB is the straightforward wired path. Bluetooth can reduce cabling where the approved workstation layout and environment support a reliable wireless connection.

PR-A90 questions and answers

Concise answers for planning an industrial scale-label workflow.

What is the Arlyn PR-A90?

The Arlyn PR-A90 is a 4-inch direct thermal label printer offered with compatible Arlyn scales that use the UpScale touchscreen indicator. It is intended for weight labels, product identification and barcode or QR workflows.

Can I buy the PR-A90 as a standalone printer or retrofit?

No. Arlyn presents the PR-A90 as an option within a compatible scale configuration, not as a standalone or retrofit printer. Contact Arlyn to confirm the correct scale, UpScale and connection combination.

Does the PR-A90 need ink or a ribbon?

No ribbon or liquid ink is used. The direct thermal printhead creates the image on compatible heat-sensitive media, so the selected label stock must be suitable for the required environment and label life.

Can the PR-A90 print barcodes and QR codes?

Yes, when the printer is paired with a compatible UpScale configuration and the UpScale Barcode & QR Print Function. The exact symbology, data fields and label template should be validated for the application.

Can I customize the PR-A90 label layout?

Yes. The Arlyn workflow is designed to let customers create application-specific layouts in OpenLabel and make them available as selectable print frames during system setup. At the weighing station, the operator uses the familiar weight screen, weighs the item and presses PRINT to output the selected label through the PR-A90. OpenLabel is available; confirm the current LabelTag release and supported print-frame workflow with Arlyn.

What label sizes can the PR-A90 use?

The listed media-width range is 20–118 mm, with a maximum print width of 108 mm. Listed label length is 25–250 mm. Confirm the exact stock, gap or black-mark arrangement and roll construction before ordering media.

Should I choose USB or Bluetooth?

Choose USB for a direct wired connection. Choose Bluetooth when reducing the cable path benefits the approved workstation layout. Arlyn should confirm compatibility, distance and environmental factors for the complete scale configuration.

What do gap and black-mark sensors do?

The sensors help the printer detect where one label ends and the next begins. Gap sensing is used with separated die-cut labels; black-mark sensing reads a printed registration mark on the backing or media.

How long does the PR-A90 printhead last?

The published rating is up to 50 km of printed media. Actual life depends on label material, heat settings, adhesive or dust buildup, cleaning and duty cycle, so it should not be converted into a guaranteed number of labels.

How do I order a PR-A90?

Start with a compatible Arlyn scale and UpScale configuration. Arlyn can confirm the printer connection, barcode/QR function, label requirements and the complete quoted configuration before the order is placed.

Build the whole workstation correctly

Match the scale, UpScale, connection and label workflow before you order.

Tell Arlyn what you weigh, what the label must contain and where it goes next. The team can help specify a compatible configuration instead of treating the printer as an isolated accessory.
