Data Collection Using Industrial Scales

Data Collection Using Industrial ScalesWith computers driving the majority of industrial facilities today, it’s critical that industrial scales are able to communicate with a variety of devices to help streamline how to weight data is transferred throughout a facility.

Thanks to advances in technology, not only can you access weight data through a variety of computers in your facility, but you can also use that weight data to help automate operational processes as well.

The Arlyn Scales Way of Doing Business

Arlyn Scales has continued to innovate throughout the 30 years that they’ve been in business. We’ve done this in a variety of ways, but one of which is by working closely with our customers to determine their needs and come up with solutions that meet or surpass those needs. This close relationship with our customers can only be achieved because of our unique business model. Our company operates much different than many of our competitors. Below are just a few of the reasons we’re able to continue to produce high-quality scales, with cutting-edge features at competitive prices.

US Based Manufacturing & Design Teams

Unlike many scale manufacturers, Arlyn Scales has chosen to manufacture and design all of our scales right her in the US. This offers us a whole host of advantages, including streamlined design and quality control processes, constant innovation, and an experienced staff that’s heavily involved in all aspects of the scale production process.

No Distributor Network

Not only do we manufacture all our own scales in-house, but we also do not rely on any distributor network. We sell all of our scales factory direct, which gives our customers a highly customizable scale at a price that often can’t be beat by our competitors. Because we don’t have to invest in expensive distributor networks, we can pass these savings along to our customers, and also invest in our own technologies to continue to release new scale features like our cutting edge Arlyn UpScale Touchscreen Indicator or our patented Ultra Precision Scales.

Expert Level of Customer Service

Thanks to our factory direct approach to designing and manufacturing scales, we’ve been able to train our employees to be experts in their respective fields. Many of our team members have been with us since the very beginning and therefore have decades of experience in the scale industry. When you pick up the phone to call with a question you can rest easy knowing that you’ll not only be talking to a person, but someone who has an intimate knowledge of the exact scale that you’ve purchased.

How Data Collection Works With Industrial Scales

If you’re using industrial scales in your business, you’re likely relying on accurate weight readings to help make business decisions that could mean the difference between being profitable and losing money. Once you’ve received an accurate reading, you don’t want to introduce human error by writing down the weight readings only to transcribe the number incorrectly resulting in major problems.

At Arlyn Scales, our industrial scales offer a variety of data collection methods that can help you to ensure that your weight data is accessible and accurate across a wide array of devices.

  • USB – Our industrial scales offer a USB port that can allow you to simply connect a USB cable to your desktop or laptop and instantly have access to your scale’s weight data. Once the scale is connected, you can control the scale directly, as well as access weight data through a variety of popular programs such as Microsoft Excel or Access.
  • Datalogging – If your scale is in a location where computer access is not possible, you can always plug a USB drive directly into the scale to download weight data. This data can then be accessed on your computer at a later time. The data will be formatted as a .CSV file, which can be read by most popular spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Ethernet / WiFi – If your scale is located in an area where there is either an Ethernet or WiFi connection, you’ll have even more options in how you can control your scale. Our scales feature remote control capabilities that allow you to access your scale remotely to download weight data, or even troubleshoot from anywhere provided that you have an active internet connection. No longer will you have to physically be in the office to access or even control your industrial scale. As long as you have an internet connection you’ll have full access to your scales from any location in the world.
  • Setpoint Controller – With a setpoint controller you can automate a variety of different scale functions such as mixing, batching and dispensing. The controller allows you to program up to 8 weight values, which when reached can switch equipment on or off via solid state relays. This is especially beneficial if you’re mixing a variety of components to formulate a chemical. You can for example, turn on a dispensing pump to begin to fill a drum with a set amount of a necessary ingredient, then shut off the pump and proceed with controlling the dispensing of any other materials that need to be used to form whatever chemical you’re producing. This can be done with precise accuracy with little human intervention thanks to the versatility of our setpoint controller.
