Large Cylinder Scales for Weighing Liquefied Gasses

cylinder-scale-2

Companies that weigh liquefied gases on a regular basis often have a need for cylinder scales. With cylinder scales, employees can monitor the amount of gas left in a cylinder. This lets them know when to refill or replace the cylinder. With advances in scale technology, some cylinder scales can even be setup to notify employees when their contents become low.

Arlyn Scales – The Industry Leading Manufacturer of Cylinder Scales

If you’re looking for high quality, large cylinder scales that are able to handle the extreme environments that are often common when weighing liquefied gases, Arlyn Scales should be your first call.

Arlyn Scales has been a leader in the industrial scale industry for more than 30 years. As a fixture in the industry for so long, we’ve been able to develop a wide range of scales that meet the needs of our growing customer base.

Our company is based in Long Island, New York for a reason. We’ve found that while some of our competitors have chosen to move their manufacturing operations overseas, we’ve continued to focus on designing and manufacturing the highest quality scales right here in the US. We’re confident that our US-based design and manufacturing operations has allowed us to keep a tight command over any quality control issues. In addition, over the past several decades this business model has allowed us to constantly innovate and release new scales and features that have truly shaken up the entire industry.

Cylinder Scales Suitable for Weighing Liquefied Gases

At Arlyn Scales, we offer a number of industrial scales that are suitable for weighing liquefied gases. Below are our three most popular models for this use:

620-G Cylinder Scale

The 620-G cylinder scale from Arlyn Scales features a stainless steel load cell that sits in a protective housing recessed in the scale frame. Because of this unique configuration, we’re able to create a lower profile scale platform that allows for large cylinders to be easily loaded and unloaded. Our low profile platforms measure just 1.375” tall. We also offer two different platforms sizes of 9.25” x 9.25” and 14” x 14”.

The 620-G cylinder scale offers three capacities of 60, 300 and 400 lbs. The 60 lb. cylinder scale has a resolution of .02 lb., while the 300 and 400 pound scales each have a resolution of .1 lb.

Explosion Proof Cylinder Scales

Arlyn Scales also offers a line of explosion proof cylinder scales. These ArlynGuard-C scales can be used in areas that are deemed as hazardous according to NEC guidelines. These scales are Factory Mutual approved and can be used in many hazardous areas including Classes I-III, Division I and Groups A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

Ultra Precision Cylinder Scale

If your application requires a more precise cylinder scale, our Ultra Precision Scales may be more of what you’re looking for. These industry leading scales feature our Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology that measures displacement as opposed to stress or strain. This allows the load cells of these scales to be built out of a much thicker, and in turn stronger metal that helps to prevent scale damage during use.

Our Ultra Precision Scales feature resolutions in the 1:100,000 – 1:200,000 range, with capacities from 2 lbs. up to 1,000 lbs., all at prices that rival high quality strain gage scales. Prior to this revolutionary technology being released, scale owners were forced to purchase magnetic force restoration scales if they were looking for precision readings. The problem with magnetic force restoration (MFR) scales is that they’re extremely expensive, are only accurate at low capacities, and their accuracy can be affected by a wide array of environmental factors.

Using Automation to Streamline Processes

Another feature of our industrial scales that has been popular among our customers is the optional set point controller. This controller allows customers to automate a wide array of processes that are commonly performed when weighing heavy cylinders. Customers can automate processes to help with tasks like automatic filling and other PLC functions.

You’re likely wondering how this process works? Well, the digital indicator can send an electronic signal to the set point controller when a certain target weight is reached. Once this weight has been reached this electrical signal may turn off the pump, or send some type of notification that the cylinder needs to be replaced or refilled.

To use the set point controller in a different way, customers can actually set multiple target weights. Let’s say for instance you want a piece of equipment to be turned off when the weight reaches 10 lbs. Well, you may actually want to slow down the piece of equipment when it reaches 5 lbs., and shut it down completely when it reaches the target weight of 10 lbs. This helps to avoid leaving any residue in the pipes or pumps by slowing the equipment prior to completely stopping it.

Some of our customers will also use the set point controller to mix liquefied gases depending on a set formula. This way customers can have gases in separate cylinders, where each weight is being monitored. The set point controller can then trigger each of these cylinders to turn on based on a set formula.

Gain Access to Weight Data For Detailed Analysis

Accurate scales are important, but what you’re able to do with the weight data itself may be even more vital. At Arlyn Scales, we understand that you want to be able to purchase the highest quality industrial scale, but you also want that scale to have the ability to disseminate its weight data to a variety of sources.

Below are some of our most popular connectivity methods that are currently available on our industrial scales:

  • USB – Simply plug a USB cable directly into our scales and be able to access and control weight data. We offer our USB Remote Software that allows our customers to export data directly from their scales to MS Access or MS Excel.
  • Ethernet / WiFi – Think of our industrial scale as a part of your corporate network. It can be connected via an Ethernet or WiFi connection and instantly be accessible from anywhere. Imagine literally being able to control your scale from afar.
  • Datalogging – Some of our customers use our scales in areas where computer access is difficult. For these environments, we offer our datalogging functionality where you can plug a simple USB drive directly into one of our scales to download weight data for later analysis.
