Ultra Precision Flow Metering By Weight Introduced By Arlyn Scales
Arlyn Scales was contacted by a client with a very difficult request.
They wanted to place a tank on a scale, and accurately monitor and
adjust the flow rate as the liquid was slowly being pumped out. This is
usually impossible to do with a standard scale. Typically, if a scale
has the capacity to accept a full tank, it does not have the sensitivity
to accurately monitor the flow rate. For example, a scale with a 200 lb.
tank will only have a sensitivity of about 0.05 lbs. Accordingly, if the
flow rate is just 3 lbs. per hour, it will take an entire minute to show
any weight change because these fine weight adjustments can not be made
fast enough.
The Ultra Precision Arlyn SAW-H scale solved this weighing dilemma. Like
typical scales of its type, it also has a capacity of 200 lbs., but it
offers the remarkable sensitivity of 0.002 lbs. This new scale will now
be able to detect a weight change in just 2.5 seconds. Within that short
period of time, it is able to re-calculate the current flow rate and
send the proper weight information to adjust the flow to the desired
rate.
Arlyn’s SAW scales also have an added feature of providing a 500%
overload capability. Most scales only offer an overload capacity of
150%. This additional overload capacity offers vital protection to the
scale as heavy tanks are being removed and placed back onto its
platform.
Arlyn Scales also offers the same SAW scale technology in a wide range
of capacities as high as 200 lbs., and as low as 5 lbs. with a
sensitivity of 0.00005 lbs.
