Remote Indicator Software
Industrial scales are ideal for monitoring different types of industrial
processes. A typical “loss in weight” system could employ a number of
tanks or containers meant to feed ingredients into a mixer. The amount
of material remaining in the tank must be observed so that it can be
re-filled as required. Usually, the easiest way to determine this is to
place a scale under the container.
There may be a number of containers in different locations on the
manufacturing floor, so it may be very difficult for an operator to keep
track of each of them.
Arlyn Scales newly updated “Remote Indicator” software is a unique
solution to this problem. Each Arlyn scale may be equipped with an
RS-485 communication port. Up to 18 scales can be wired together to a
special Arlyn RS-485 to USB converter, which is attached to a standard
PC. The Windows based software will display a facsimile of the front
panel of the scale. The display shows the weight on the scale, and the
keys on this front panel may be used to control the scale. Up to 18
windows may be displayed at the same time.
The data that is shown on the screen can be collected into a file in an
Access database format. This may be used for later, or real time
analysis.
